We Are All Foreigners

Harold Graduates The recent vote for Britain to depart the European Union came with a tall side order of hate, racism, and fear. Your first reaction will probably mirror mine: deplorable. And it is. But there's more to it.

Hate Comes From Fear

This kind of hate, anyway, is the stuff of fear. The people most affected by any economic or political changes are those who are struggling to survive. No matter what the change is, it hits those who are the least stable in their lives and situations. When you see lots and lots of reports of people in Britain shouting “Go back to Poland,” my guess is that it comes from people who aren't getting enough to eat, or who have to decide whether to pay for medicine or heat.

I Have a Secret Weapon

Fernie, British Columbia Canada I have a secret weapon when it comes to building my business, and it's something I definitely can't train you to have. I love to share thoughts and ideas with people. I love creating posts. Text, video, audio. It's all great for me. I love sharing.

My Secret Weapon

The beauty of such a secret weapon is that you can learn more about me and about my business and about whatever it is I do that helps you thrive. It's great because it's a way to stay in contact with you, a way to share another perspective, a way for you to “mind read” and learn how I look at challenges.

Blogging Isn't Dead

Chris Brogan You can read (ironically) a blog post every day or so telling you that blogging is dead. They tell you to write into Facebook notes or into Medium or anywhere but on your own blog. They tell you that no one visits blogs any more. And whoever “they” is have lost tons and tons of opportunities over and over again while shifting between platforms while giving you that advice.

Blogging Is Not Dead

Blogging is alive and well. People create content of varying levels of value every day. There are dozens and dozens of posts created on some sites each day while other people have switched to a weekly frequency. But millions of new pages of content are created daily, no matter where you fit in the spectrum.

How Companies Are Falling Short at Social Media [INFOGRAPHIC]

It's not enough to just jump into social media because everyone else is doing it. Like my mother always said, “If you're going to do something, you better do it right.

While many brands are dominating social media marketing, others fall short. Not for lack of posting. Not for lack of dollars spent. But because they're just not doing it right.

Fear not, though, for the folks at Socially Aware have made a supremely helpful infographic that not only identifies social media marketing trends, but also highlights where most companies fall short, and how they can do better.

Don't be that company. Don't let your social media dollars go to waste. And for goodness' sake, don't chew with your mouth open!
